Narcissus “Pyxis” 8W-Y (unregistered)

A wee thing, both as a short plant of narrow foliage, and as a smaller floret on a shorter stem. A much older plant in terms of both growth habit and floret form, it is definitely a front row in the garden or in a container cultivar. Blooms mid- to late winter (latter half of December). Very light fragrance. Although it has never set seed to date, it does produce a small percentage of fertile pollen grains. Collected from an old garden site in the Natchez, Mississippi area.

NOTE: The Sara Van Beck tazetta and paperwhite daffodils are generally not hardy in cold climates with freezing winters. In frost-free climates (zones 8-11) these bulbs may be safely planted outdoors in autumn for late winter flowers.
