Narcissus ‘Impasto’ 8W-W, 2026

A strong grower, this is one of the first to bloom in mid-November and is one of the most heat-tolerant tazettas in the collection. Of medium-tall stature, it has minimal corona color on a large, but less than inspired, floret form. However, it has by far the highest level of “diamond dust” in its petal structure, giving the florets a shimmer that is hard to capture. Its light, complex fragrance pollinators find irresistible and I huff with every pass. Likely it too was created for the cut flower market, but with a “shorter” stem. It will set seed, albeit very infrequently. Collected from an old garden site near Natchez, Mississippi, whose owners had a steadfast penchant for planting white tazettas along the borders of the garden beds. Long lasting, heat tolerant, shimmering, fragrant and popular with all the wee creatures, what’s not to like. One of my absolute favorites, so you better treat it nicely (or I want it back).

NOTE: The Sara Van Beck tazetta and paperwhite daffodils are generally not hardy in cold climates with freezing winters. In frost-free climates (zones 8-11) these bulbs may be safely planted outdoors in autumn for late winter flowers.
