Narcissus ‘Dainty Doll’ 8Y-Y, 2023

Cute as a button and about as big. Of the ten or so primrose-yellow autumn bloomers in the collection, this is by far the most robust grower and often in bloom by mid-November. A short and willowy plant, the scapes are on the shorter side and the florets smaller as well. Very lightly fragrant with the creamy yellow tazetta fragrance profile, it is popular with pollinators. Somewhat frost sensitive, the plants should be protected during frost and freeze events. The small bulbs are prone to excessive division, so plant a bit deeper to encourage a larger bulb with better scapes. Sets seed reliably if the weather cooperates. Collected from an old garden site in the Natchez, Mississippi area.

NOTE: The Sara Van Beck tazetta and paperwhite daffodils are generally not hardy in cold climates with freezing winters. In frost-free climates (zones 8-11) these bulbs may be safely planted outdoors in autumn for late winter flowers. In colder climates with freezing winters, they are easily grown indoors for flowers during the winter months. Learn more at www.heirloomtazettas.com.
